No Holding Back Tumultuous

An exciting finishing burst by Tumultuous resulted in a big pay day for connections with victory in the $1m Magic Millions Trophy.

A graduate of the Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale, Tumultuous was eligible for the $1m race on the $10m raceday in Queensland.

A winner of three races previously, Tumultuous entered the race in having won two starts ago at Canterbury and finished third at his previous start.

In a thrilling finishing, Tumultuous came from off the pace with rider Brenton Avdulla picked a path through the field and got his mount in front just in the nick of time.

“We thought he might have won a few more races before now – we thought he’d be a Derby horse, but it’s a very nice race to win,” Waller said.

“He’s a gelding now and older and that has made a difference. Brenton Avdulla has done a fabulous job to come from the wide barrier and then saved ground coming through them.

“That way he was able to build momentum is what you need to win races like this.”

Trained by Chris Waller, Tumultuous is owned by Mr C B Marheine, Parkes Family, Segenhoe Thoroughbreds Australia, Mr N A Greenhalgh & Mrs M T Greenhalgh.

He has earned $726,300 in prizemoney for his connections. He was purchased for $350,000 from Willow Park Stud at the 2015 Magic Millions Sale.
