Four Winners on Saturday

While Flemington took centre stage on Saturday, Rosehill proved a fruitful hunting ground for Mulcaster Bloodstock graduates with three winners all picking up $100,000 races at Rosehill.

On a day that Chris Waller trained five winners at Rosehill, and a Group 1 winner at Flemington, the first of the winners came in race two with Unforgotten unleashing a brilliant finish to claim victory for rider Tye Angland.

The daughter of Fastnet Rock was a long way from the leaders as the field entered the straight but she powered home strongly to get up in the shadows of the post for victory.

Carrying the colours of Noel Greenhalgh, Unforgotten is raced by a group that includes Greenhalgh, Waller and Magic Bloodstock Racing, Mr F W Cook, Mrs C M Cook,Mrs M T Greenhalgh, Mr R Shrimpton, Mrs C Shrimpton, Mr I Bruce, Mr R Smith, Mr P Y W Ng, Mr K H Warriner, Mr J T C Lake & Mr B L Mathieson.

Selected by Mulcaster Bloodstock, Unforgotten was purchased by Chris Waller Racing for NZ$360,000 from Curraghmore Stud at the 2016 NZB Premier Yearling Sale.
The second winner on the day was Carzoff, an import purchased in France less than 12 months ago.

Second up this preparation, Carzoff was second fresh up at Doomben before transferring to Waller’s Sydney stable. Settled just behind mid-field by jockey Kathy O’Hara, the son of Zoffany picked a path through the field and was fought gamely to win by a short margin.

Purchased by Mulcaster Bloodstock for €225,000 at last year’s Arqana’s Autumn Sale, Carzoff is raced by a big group of owners including Mr N A Greenhalgh, Mrs M T Greenhalgh, Nick Vass Bloodstock, Mrs A Vass, Mrs K Ackery, Mr D M Ackery, Werrett Bloodstock Pty Ltd, Mr F W Cook, Mrs C M Cook, Mr L Carrucan, Mr B M Howson, Mr S L Thornton, Mr N D Keevers & Grand Parkview Stud.

Rounding out the successful day in the last race was Wayanka, continuing his rich vein of form in recent months.

A winner in August and September, Wayanka was given a let up in October and was primed to win on Saturday.

Ridden by Josh Parr, Wayanka was restrained to near the tail of the field before coming centre track in the home straight. The son of Encosta de Lago fought out a close finish and managed to get his nose down at the right time for victory.

Selected by Mulcaster Bloodstock, Wayanka was purchased by Chris Waller Racing for $120,000 from Fig Tree Thoroughbreds at the 2015 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale and is raced by Mr S Saric, Mrs J C Saric, Mr K J Pryke, Ms P A Winn, Mr R K Lees, Mrs R J Christie, Mr G P Basilone, Ms A M Dynan, Mr A J Lees, Mr L C Birtles, Mr J Lynch, Mr J M Simmons, Ms S M Fitzgerald, Mr M D C Vaughan, Mr A A Anderson & Mr A D Karpin.

Adding to the successful day was My Giuliano in Brisbane, a winner over 2040m at Doomben.
Placed in two of his three previous starts since moving to Queensland, My Giulano proved too good on Saturday as he powered home to win under rider Robbie Fradd.

Selected by Mulcaster Bloodstock, My Giuliano was purchased by Chris Waller Racing for $130,000 from Edinglassie Stud at the 2014 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale and is raced by Mrs J M Meiring, Ravenswood Bloodstock, Gemstash Pty Ltd, Pay The Man, Mr B Pang, Mr S A Searle, Mrs I Searle, Mr G A Henry, Mr J R Mathie, Mr G Singh, Mr J A Vella, Mrs P Henry & Mr J Kampanggeow.
