A well-timed run by Quick Defence (First Defence) returned the imported galloper to the winner’s circle at Rosehill.
Bred in America and purchased by Chris Waller Racing in England, Quick Defence captured his second Australian victory with a strong finishing burst over 1800m under rider Brenton Avdulla.
Settled beyond mid-field by Avdulla, Quick Defence made his way to centre track with less than 200m to go and attacked the line, getting to the front in the shadows of the post to win by a half a head.
Selected by Mulcaster Bloodstock at Tattersalls Horse in Training Sale, Quick Defence was purchased for just 22,000 guineas and has now won just shy of A$130,000 in Australia for trainer Chris Waller.
