Champion mare Winx produced another breath-taking display with victory in the Group 1 $1m China Horse Club George Ryder Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill.
Selected by Muclaster Bloodstock for owners Peter Tighe of Magic Bloodstock, Debbie Kepitis & Richard Treweeke and trainer Chris Waller, Winx took her earnings past $10m with her latest victory.
Racing on a Heavy 10 surface, concerns about the track were unfounded as she strode to the lead at the top of the straight to rapturous applause from the admiring crowd and strode away for a comfortable seven-length success with Hugh Bowman aboard.
“Unbelievable, just unbelievable,” commented Waller. “I just can’t explain the feelings and emotions whenever she races.
“The responsibility that comes with training her is something I’ve never experienced before.“It’s something we take very seriously and that’s why she’s running today or she would have been scratched. Simple as that.
”Winx has now won 16 straight races and including 11 at Group 1 level. She was purchased for $230,000 at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale as a yearling and has now earned $10,438,930.
