Hursley laps up the Flemington slosh

Hursley relished the step up in trip to 1800m and the testing conditions at Flemington yesterday to score in the Listed TCL Curved TV Stakes.

Keen to secure progeny of NZ-based stallion Makfi from his first crop to sell in 2014, bloodstock agent Guy Mulcaster was confident Hursley was a must have for Chris Waller Racing, purchasing him with Qatar Racing’s agent David Redvers for NZ$200,000 at Karaka.

The colt confirmed he’s a stayer with plenty of potential when overpowering his rivals, settling in the back half of the field and tracking up three-wide before being presented in the straight. Craig Williams edged closer to the leaders swinging for home before moving into clear running with 400 metres to go. Hursley worked through his gears, hitting his top nearing the final 200 metres before going clear to win in strong fashion.
