Relishing the heavy conditions, Saigon Tea travelled strongly from the back of the field to race clear from her rivals in the straight to defeat Casino Dancer with Street Spirit third.
As much as $4.40 was bet about Saigon Tea when markets first opened on Wednesday evening and her supporters were still confident on race day, forcing her price as short as $1.55 with on course bookmakers before drifting to start $1.70.
“Third-up, up to ten furlongs and on a wet track, today was her day,” Cassidy said.
“Her two runs this campaign had been good but she was just looking for more ground.”
