Leading jockey Tye Angland has secured the ride on Rock Diva for the Queensland Oaks with regular rider Leith Innes out injured.
Rock Diva is rated an $8 chance for the Group 1 fillies feature following a bold showing in the Doomben Roses.
After finishing third in the New Zealand Oaks, Rock Diva had a short let-up before only one barrier trial ahead of the 2000m Group 2 event.
The daughter of Bohemian Blues settled back in the field from a wide barrier and attacked the line strongly to finish sixth behind Queensland Oaks favourite Arabian Gold, a run which indicated the rise to 2400m would be ideal.
Trainer Tony Pike’s Queensland carnival team will be bolstered by Sacred Star, another Mulcaster Bloodstock purchase, who won a recent barrier trial at Doomben in impressive style.
Runner-up in the Group 1 NRM Sprint at Te Rapa last start, Sacred Star is nominated for the Stradbroke Handicap.
