Champagne Cath solid in Light Fingers Stakes

Champagne Cath added more black type to her page with a strong third behind Sweet Idea in the Group 2 Light Fingers Stakes (1200m) at Royal Randwick.

After defeating older mares first-up a month earlier, Champagne Cath showed terrific speed under the guidance of Jay Ford and was game in defeat, finishing in front of many high class fillies including Guelph.

The Chris Waller trained filly has enjoyed a strong run of form since being ridden by Jay Ford, with her last four starts resulting in a placing in the Group 3 Ming Dynasty, victory in the Listed Reginald Allen Stakes and then two solid runs this preparation.

Champagne Cath was purchased by Magic Bloodstock Racing for $190,000 at the Magic Millions Yearling Sale on the advice of Mulcaster Bloodstock.
