I’m Imposing scored a narrow victory in the Group 3 Summer Cup (2000m) at Royal Randwick, fighting back in the last stride to defeat Travolta.
The Chris Waller trained galloper, who has suffered two serious tendon injuries, firmed from $20 to $14 in the betting ring and got the result by a half head with favourite Destiny’s Kiss a fast-finishing third.
“His first-up run was quite good and then he went back to the trials and I thought he trialled very well, I am not surprised to see him get that result,” said Waller’s foreman Peter Muscutt.
Rider Blake Shinn praised Waller for persevering with the injury plagued galloper.
“Coming up the rise I thought he was going to win by about three lengths but to the credit of Travolta, he fought on strongly and actually hit the front but my horse found another burst when it was needed,” Shinn said.
“Chris has done an amazing job to get this horse back to winning form. His first-up run was good and then they kept him ticking over with a trial.”
I’m Imposing was selected by Mulcaster Bloodstock for Waller out of the Lloyd Williams dispersal sale and the leading trainer then purchased him online for a group of a connections headed by TVN’s Richard Callander.
