Mulaqen added another metropolitan win to his improving record with a tough victory over stable mate Marden at Royal Randwick on November 9.
Trained by Chris Waller, Mulaqen proved his victory at Rosehill Gardens a fortnight earlier was no fluke, coming from off the speed to score under the guidance of apprentice John Kissick.
“It was good to see him back up the performance from a fortnight earlier,” Waller said.
“He has improved with each performance this preparation and is now getting the right results at a distance range that suits.”
Formerly trained in England, Mulaqen has now recorded three wins since joining the Waller stable in early 2013.
Marden, who was also purchased by Mulcaster Bloodstock, was doing his best work late in the 2000m contest, cutting the margin behind Mulaqen to one and a half lengths.
