Bowman gets the best out of Instrumentalist

A brilliant Hugh Bowman ride returned Instrumentalist to the winners circle on the new Kensington track at Royal Randwick.

Following a string of placings, the imported stayer appreciated the rise to 2400m and proved too strong for stablemate Perplexity in the final 200m.

The Chris Waller trained galloper positioned midfield and powered to the line to score by a length and a quarter.

It was the third win Instrumentalist has recorded since arriving in Australia and one that was well received by punters as he was backed from $5 to $4.20 late in betting.

“He is a nice stayer in the making and has showed once he gets to a trip that suits, he really comes in to his own,” Waller said.

“Now that he has hit form, I would expect it to continue.”
