Big Day for Waller & Mulcaster Bloodstock

Rosehill trainer Chris Waller etched his name in racing history at Rosehill on July 6th by breaking the record for the most Sydney metropolitan winners in a season.

The record was shared by the late T.J. Smith and his daughter Gai Waterhouse with 156 winners.

However Waller was able to surpass their benchmark after Oompa Loompa won the $85,000 Become an ATC Sponsor Handicap (1200m) for three-year-olds.

Waller was able to register an additional 3 winners on the Rosehill card, all of whom were purchased by Mulcaster Bloodstock.

English import Fulgur had too much class for his opposition when winning the $85,000 ATC Memberships on Sale Now Handicap (1800m) at Benchmark 90 conditions.

Fulgur covered extra ground but sustained a searching run around the outside of the field in the straight to win by a neck ahead of stablemate Illo.
“The owners (of Fulgur) have certainly got a nice horse on their hands and I think next prep you’ll see a tidier individual,” Waller said.

Mulcaster Bloodstock secured Fulgur from the Tattersalls Horses in Training Sale, having monitored the progress of the talented son of High Chaparral for more than 12 months while in the care of Luca Cumani.

John Kissick gave Secessio a lovely ride to win going away in the $85,000 TAB Rewards Handicap (2400m) by two lengths.

“He is still learning and we are still learning about him,” Waller said.

“He has improved these past two weeks.

Another imported galloper Eigelstein added to the haul when winning the $85,000 P&F Avellino 50th Anniversary Handicap.

“Eigelstein and Secessio were both sourced privately by Guy Mulcaster in Germany and came on the same plane. They are good solid horses and the German horses are good value.”
